Skating rink in Leidseplein [ 1 November 2007 until 6 January 2008 ]
Leidseplein will boast a real skating rink this year. The ice rink will be created in the same place as in former years, at the centre of the many cafés and restaurants between Leidsestraat and the Stadsschouwburg theatre. At the rink you will be able to hire skates if you don’t have any yourself. There will also be stalls selling poffertjes – miniature pancakes - and other food.
Museumplein ice rink [ 21 December 2007 until 4 March 2008 ]
The Museumplein will once again boast a real skating rink, thanks to an initiative of the authorities of Amsterdam’s Oud Zuid quarter. Any day up to the spring holiday you will be able to tie on your skates here for a glide across the ice from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. If you don’t possess any skates yourself, don’t worry: you can hire a pair at the rink. The artificial ice rink behind the Rijksmuseum will be accessible free of charge. In the evenings it will be festively illuminated. At the Cobra Café next to the skating rink you can have a break and enjoy refreshments. There will also be a stall selling poffertjes (miniature pancakes). Museumplein is looking forward to another highly enjoyable skating season.

2) Marionette Theatre - The magic flute [ 20 Oct – 30 Dec. '07 ]
The Amsterdam Marionette Theatre presents a unique form of music theatre: the European tradition of the classical marionette theatre. Wooden actors, in their silk and velvet costumes, present an opera by Mozart. Six puppeteers manipulate the large marionettes.
The Magic Flute is an exotic adventure; a classical story about the struggle between good and evil. It’s a fairytale....a story from the world of imagination inhabited by princes, princesses, dragons and exotic birds. Unfortunately this beautiful world is threatened by intrigues, jealousy and vanity. But most of all it is ruled by the extraordinary strength and power of love.
A performance for both adults and children (min. 7 yrs.) of approx. 2 hours (a short interval included). The magic flute will be performed in Dutch, but because of the musical and visual character of the performance, there is no serious barrier of language.
Date of performance:
Saturday 20 October 20:00, Sunday 28 October 14:00, Sunday 11 November 14:00, Sunday 25 November 14:00, Wednessday 26 December 14:00, Thursday 27 December 20:00, Sunday 30 December 14:00.

3) Palazzo Dinnershow [ 24 Oct. '07- 24 Feb '08 ]
Michelin two-star Master Chef Ron Blaauw will bring a brand new top quality culinary dinner experience, with a surprising show by international top-performers in the Palazzo Marquee of Mirrors located in the Sculpture Garden of the Westergasfabriek Culture Park.
Theatre of the Senses
Palazzo is the Theatre of the Senses. An evening of show, gastronomy, acrobatics, magic and illusion will take you to another more enigmatic world, where harsh reality has no place. Guests experience Palazzo as a pleasant leap into the unknown. A mysterious, sensuous and above all unforgettable experience.
Flying over your wonderfully decorated dinner table, dangling from the rafters, vocally pleasing in a spectacular light show, juggling in the heart of the evening and dancing between the candelabras the best performers in the world create a variety show that will astound you. Through its unique character the show blurs the differences between theatre and restaurant, staff and guests, to let you become an integral part of Palazzo. Palazzo puts world class acrobatics, comedy and magic right at your table.

4) Street Organ Festival [ 27 Oct'07]
Some twenty street organs will play during the Street Organ Festival this year. The diverse street organs, hand organs and concert organs come from all over the Netherlands. Famous folk singer, Nico Landers, will perform various Amsterdam ballads during the event.
Street organs are just as much a part of the city as its winding canals and deep-fried mini-croquettes (‘bitterballen’). The amount of street organs in Amsterdam has diminished over the years. A half century ago one could find forty street or barrel organs in the city. In 1994 the number had dropped to fourteen, and it is now down to just three.
A committee has been set up to ensure that the street organ is given the cultural significance in Amsterdam it deserves. It is for this reason they organise the Amsterdam Street Organ festival each year. The festival is a unique part of Amsterdam’s 2007 theme year Amsterdam: Feel the Rhythm - music & dance.
Following what has become a real Amsterdam tradition, the Street Organ festival will take place on 27 October between 10:00 and17:00 on the Rembrandtplein and Thorbeckeplein.
